Meet Matt!
Matt Harr comes from a long line of quilters — his great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother were all crafters and passed down their love of quilting and sewing through the generations. From a young age, he was immersed in the art of sewing, learning traditional techniques and developing an appreciation for the creativity and storytelling that quilts can hold.
Before turning his full attention to quilting, Matthew pursued a career in the performing arts. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Dance and built an impressive résumé as a dancer and actor, performing across Texas, New York, and California. His background in choreography and stage performance continues to influence his work today — each quilt design is an exploration of movement, rhythm, and balance translated into fabric and thread.
When theaters closed during the pandemic, Matthew found a new stage: TikTok Live. What began as a way to connect with others and share beginner quilting lessons quickly grew into a thriving online community. Encouraged by the enthusiasm of new quilters discovering the craft, he began designing and publishing his own quilt patterns — combining traditional inspiration with a modern, approachable style.
Now based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Matt works in social media and marketing for a local quilt shop and serves as President of the Albuquerque Modern Quilt Guild. Whether teaching, designing, or connecting quilters online, he continues to celebrate the creativity, heritage, and joy that quilting brings to people everywhere.
